Safety, Safety, Safety…!

Filed under: Uncategorized — lbrady @ 11:26 am

Some news of stranger danger at a neighborhood school reminds us that we should take time to review stranger safety with our own children. These days you can never be too careful. We encourage families to take a moment to review school drop off and pick up procedures. It is important to discuss a plan for where your child should wait after class and who will be picking them up. Only kindergarten students are dismissed directly to an adult, so it is imperative that your child knows your plan. It is also a good idea to share your plan with your child’s teacher. Consistency is key. If the plan alters, children should know to go directly to the main office.

United States Census

Filed under: Uncategorized — lbrady @ 3:01 pm

Every ten years our constitution requires a census for the primary purpose of reallocating the seats in the House of Representatives. Census questionnaires will be sent directly to your homes, however volunteers will be providing questionnaire assistance and answering questions you may have about the census here at LCH. Look for these volunteers in our media center between February 19, 2010 and April 19, 2010 on Tuesdays from 7:45AM- 8:45AM and Thursdays from 2:00PM-3:00PM. Thank you for your support in gathering accurate information for the 2010 census.

More News From the Green Team…

Filed under: Uncategorized — lbrady @ 4:21 pm

Just a reminder that this Friday is “Final Fridays” when LCH’s Green Team will collect and recycle your used batteries.

The Green Team collects AAA, AA, C or D batteries the last Friday of each month and drops them off at our local recycling center. In order to offer this voluntary service, we must ask that each family bring no more than 10 batteries per scheduled “drop-off” day. The Green Team also ask that, for safety reasons, you please tape the ends of the batteries and place them in a plastic bag.

Since now it is against state law to throw batteries away in the trash, this is a great opportunity to get rid of those spent batteries, instead of making a trip to the recycling center yourself.
